BREAKING: Staff at MIT apologise for East Coast earthquake, claims an intern "dropped some science".
There is a lot of awful out there. Awful Books. Horrible Movies. Television that makes you cringe. But sometimes they hit the wall of awful and spring back and land in a magical valley of Awful Good. I spend my spare time roaming this strange and dangerous realm searching for hidden gems, and tearing apart everything else. Nothing is safe.

Rift
I can't believe this happened. A while back I said I was going to start playing this game Dragon Age again, I never got around to doing it for several reasons most of which were issues with the xbox. Then a couple of days ago this new mmorpg came out. (for those confused it means mass multiplayer online role playing game.) My boyfriend was trying it out because he was sick of the other game he had been playing. Two days ago he asked me to log in for him before he got home so that he could play when he got home. (at the time the server took twenty minutes to load)
While waiting for the game to load I ended up creating a character because I enjoy making fake people. After I made my character I wander around the start level for a few minutes to do a few things. And then I kept going. Until my boyfriend got home and wanted the computer back. Then today I got up and sat down to play for a little bit until I was ready for breakfast.......and when I checked the clock it was lunch time. Then I took a shower and went right back to playing the game.
My boyfriend is a little bit annoyed but I really can't figure out why. He has spent years trying to get me to play video games, just not the ones he is currently crazy about playing. I don't think he likes that I am taking away some of his computer time.
The game starts with either a guardian or a defiant, and they like science and machines so I went with them. But basically both sides you come back to life after being dead and are trying to stop this evil force from the great beyond from destroying the world. When I started you are in the future and the world has already pretty much fallen. But they have built a machine to send you back in time and from there you have to change the course of events.
I am pretty into it. So much so that I didn't read a single page today, which basically never happens.

TV Review: Eureka Season 1
I feel a bit bad about this. I bought these dvds a few years ago and then forgot about them after watching half the season. The boyfriend was bored a few days ago and then we saw the season on Netflix. We ended up pulling out the dvd's when my computer started being stupid.
Okay so the basis of the show is that some where in Oregon there is this town called Eureka that was created during the early days of World War II. The town was created for the scientist that were creating our weapons of war, the town later became a place were the brightest minds in the country are kept so that their experiments can be monitored. The show opens with US Marshal Jack Carter and his daughter Zoe making a road trip home after she attempted to run away. They have car trouble and end up in Eureka. While there an experiment goes wrong and Jack is forced to help the local law enforcement.
The show is science heavy. I mean rather science heavy. The issue is that I am watching this show with my boyfriend, who reads modern science for fun and picks up books by Steven Hawking for light reading. So the few times the show tried to do something that can't be done or doesn't make science sense then I get to hear about it. At the same time he was the one begging to watch another episode at two in the morning.
The characters are fun. I like Jack a lot and his continued attempts to understand what is happening around him. Henry, the local mechanic who functions as a jack of all trades for the town is the boyfriend's favorite. He wants to be Henry. I am a little annoyed with the females in the show. The female cop is cool and is fine, but the 'love interest' girl is just super dull. Like crazy dull. Then there is this therapist in the town that everyone is supposed to think is crazy hot but she sure doesn't look it. That's the issue with Sci-fi produced shows, the network doesn't have the money to pay really pretty people to be in the series, so you end up with sorta pretty.
I enjoyed the show. I am kind of stocked to see what happens in the up coming seasons. I would really recommend it. Because while there is science they explain it to Jack so we get to understand the science in layman's terms.

Quote of the day
"When they brought up that first giant squid I think all my hopes and dreams were crushed. It easily fit in that boat. A giant squid should have been two hundred feet long, not twenty." - Boyfriend
Some time later.
"We need to genetically create a Krakin to make up for the epic failure that is the giant squid." -Boyfriend
